In the most biodiverse marine ecosystems in the world, SeaWeb's Asia Pacific program is strengthening voices for ocean conservation by bridging the worlds of marine science, journalism, and public policy. We work to amplify and clarify the messages of local scientists and ocean experts, and to connect journalists and decision-makers to ocean issues and specialists.

We envision an Asia Pacific region where all people will act on the belief that a healthy ocean is vital to human life and a sustainable future.

Week of 28 May

Good morning team!
This week is a really important one for us. I have two important items:
  1. First of all, please join me in a WARM WELCOME for Ms. Betty Oala, who is our new Communications Specialist in Papua New Guinea. I managed to forget to take a photo while I was there, so maybe Rod, you guys could take one together and post it?
  2. Second, Liz is headed to the Netherlands (Den Haag to be specific) for a big international endangered species meeting called CITES - the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Flora and Fauna. Many thanks to Va for her efforts to connect us with the CITES authorities in Fiji. See the calendar at the bottom of the page for my travel dates.
Because of this upcoming travel and our newly expanded team, I need to make sure we have really strong conference calls before I leave. Please email me with the times and days you prefer to do that this week.
Cheers,
Liz
